Ok need some help what tang would be reccomended for a 48x48x12 barebottom reef? Or you think the 12 inches tall is just too shallow?

the lenght of 48" might be to short but a cube like that would be pretty sweet. You should be able to keep a yellow or kole tang in there though.

+1 - Tomini Tang would also likely work in there.

The tomini I have in mine it always busy picking at rocks but gets spooked when you walk up to the tank. You kinda gotta admire from afar. Definitely a very nice looking fish though.

You could go with tangs that get up to 12" in length if you leave decent swimming room at the sides of the rocks. They may not enjoy the lower height but don't know for certain without experience on it.

My tomini does a lot of picking on rocks and glass but doesn't seem to eat hair algae. So I don't really know if it would do what you want.
