Help help, my sump I just picked up is leaking. The whole 90 gallons above is full, we emptied the sump, and I believe have identified the leaking area. Can I use plain silicone to seal it?????? This sux!

You can use silicone if it's glass. If it's acrylic you need some weld-on 4. Silicone on acrylic will not hold up.

If it's a big gap in the acrylic you may need weld on 16

16 is for imperfect gaps and probably won't be pretty. Number four is for normal use making sumps with nice clean cuts.

Check around town for a plastic place that should carry these.

If it is glass make sure you get aquarium safe silicone. Most of your normal "100% Silicone" products have chemicals in them to resist mold and mildew and are very unsafe for aquarium use.

If it is a substantial leak in a glass tank, I would just buy a new one. It's not worth the hassle. To resilicon a tank correctly is a pain. Silicon won't bond to silicon well. You will need to strip all the silicon off and reseal, which seldom goes well.

Thanks for all the quick responses. Considering our lack of know how, we just called the company we bought it from to fix it/ replace it. He's coming today. here's to hoping!

Thanks everyone! Guess what? Now my power is out and I don't have a generator! Not my week! How long can a 38 gal go without power?

Should be fine for a while. Use a cup and take some water out then pour it back in periodically.A battery powered air pump is a good, cheap investment.

    Stupid I phone!

You're a genius! We definitely need to get a air pump that's battery powered. This is NO fun.
