Allogalathea elegans, AKA squat lobster. I have had one for about a year and I love it. Does anyone have any experience adding a second one? The vendors say no problem but first hand experiences are hard to find. Tank is a 4 ft 120 with small peaceful fish.

As long as you have rock work for both to hide you will be fine. As with all creatures, there will probably be a spat to figure out who's territory is where, and after that, they may never see each other again.

LA-Unless you find a mated pair, two of the same species shouldn't be kept in the same aquarium as they will fight.

ive not had that problem, maybe I got lucky though. They don't stay near each other but they certainly don't fight.

I have read that from LA but I have also talked to them on the phone and was told they should be fine. Do you have any experience keeping two?

VA Reef, have you kept two with success?

Thank you both for the replies, I do appreciate the advice.

I have not kept that particular species but by and large other lobsters usually react violently to newcomers.

Good luck! Hopefully the size of your tank will make a difference. While I've never kept a squat, IMOPE lobsters don't usually wander far from their lair. :)

My new squat is in QT and will hit the display in a week or two. I am optimistic that it will work out. They really aren't lobsters and the one I have doesn't move around too much at all.

Thanks for all the feedback, it is very helpful. I will let you know how it goes in the DT
