I wanted to see what salt mixes those with predominantly SPS tanks running Ecobak use.

I was reading on other forums that those running a ULNS should try to keep their alkalinity close to NSW and I read ALK levels of 8-10. A good number of reef salt mixes are advertised to have high CA, ALK, and Mg. A couple of months after Hurricane Sandy wiped out my 300 FOWLR I started up a 55 reef tank with Red Sea Coral Pro Salt and my ALK is 12, CA 450, Mg 1350. I do weekly water changes of 10 gallons. That is just out of habit when the 300 was originally a SPS tank. I did start Ecobak from the get go and my NO3 is 0 and PO4 is 0.07.

Instant Ocean is what I use. Nice base level close to NSW and very consistent between batches. With sps dominated tanks you will be dosing or using a reactor anyway so keep it simple.

Thanks for the replies. I was initially using IO on the tank during the initial cycle. Guess I'll go back to IO after I finish up the Red Sea Coral Pro bucket I have.

Have dosing pumps, kalk reactor, and CA Reactor on hand from my previous reef tank when the time calls for it.

crazy numbers... usually IO is known for more consistency than that.
