I have a new 10" ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411942347.682179.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411942360.616714.jpg mata tang that went into QT about 2 weeks ago and appeared to have a crypto or velvet outbreak with what also appeared to be black ich (black specs). He has been on cupramine and prazi pro for roughly 2 days now and his condition has changed but not necessarily improved. He has actually been more active today however he is still breathing rapidly and has a dark black/green film on him. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I'm not sure what this film is or is a symptom of.

When you say film does it look like slim coat is peeling. If so then it could be brooklynella which cupramine will not help. Not saying that is definitely it bur. is a sign. Formaldehyde is pretty much only treatment to work for brook

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
My vote is Brooklynella, it's got that nasty peeling look to it.

    Good luck.

I checked on him again and the spots on the top seem to have open sores. Like whatever this is is just eating away at him. Horrible to watch and I feel awful. I don't know what to do. I dosed the tank with tetracyclin as it's what I had available. Sucks that it's a Sunday and there were no LFS around open. With the sores I'm sure I couldn't give him a formalin bath anyway.

If it is brook which I think it is besides straight formalin the only other thing to try is a mardels quick cure which has only a 3 percent formaldehyde and mâcheline green but to be honest probably too late if brook. I was successful on a sailfin tang but caught it very very early. The brook just destroys too fast. Sorry

Yep, does the brook eat into the flesh of the fish?
