Well, I have a 1.5" purple w/ green tentacles plate coral. It was doing great until last night. I noticed it is losing flesh. This occured the day after I used Aquavitro's trace chemical. I have to assume this is what caused the problem. I took it out and gave it a Iodine dip and shook the dead flesh off the plate.

    Params:

    Ammo: 0
    Nitrite: 0
    Nitrate: 5
SG: 1.024-5 depending on if the ATO has kicked in yet
    Ca: 480
    pH: 8.4
    dKH: 11
    Mag: ~1350

    Any suggestions?

You have probably done all you can. If it does lose its flesh do not throw the skeleton. Fungias are real good at regenerating babies from their skeletons.

That is what I read. They can leave numerous babies in a last ditch effort to reproduce before dieing.

Yeah, I wish I had known that. I had one die off on me and trash canned it. I also got one that was a polyp rock and killed the babies off thinking they were majanos.

Mine was as close to dead as possible with most flesh gone from shipping, then being burned by UV and grew back in moderate flow and light. Keep it.

I plan on keeping it. It is a very pretty plate and I can easily find a spot for it if I don't see any flesh left over.

I think the culprit was the Aqua Vitro Fuel.

That is odd. What is in that stuff that would cause that?

I have no clue. You have to refrigerate it after opening the bottle. Every time I decide to try it most of my LPS look awful. 48 hours after I use it everything looks great again. I paid 9.99 for it and figured i would give it a try every so often. I think it may go in the garbage now.

It most likely is gluconate based and LPS seem to abhor gluconate. SPS love it.
