I've got an empty Oceanic BioCube 29 gal nano tank. I've been thinking of setting up a cichlid tank instead of the usual marine system. Its been a while since I've done freshwater and want to know how to set up the BioCube for an african cichlid tank, or other type of cichlid species? Can I use the crushed sand from the previous salt water set up which I have cleaned out for starters? What do you suggest for filtration? The wet dry bio balls? Carbon? etc?

    Thanks.

A 29cube has a very small footprint that will make it difficult to stock with most cichlids. Not saying it cant be done but it might be hard to find fish, I would suggest posting in a FW forum such as cichlidforums (http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/african_cichlid_genus_gallery.php).

Nothing against 3reef, it is a great place!!! But the majority of posters here I feel specialize in SW and reef tanks and you might get more responses if you post in a FW and cichlid forum. Good luck!
