Okay so I got a vet who will do it. She said she can call it in to one of those online pharmacies. I am trying to find the one who has it the cheapest. What size dog should I say it is for?

    2-10 lbs
    11-25 lbs
    26-50 lbs
    51-100 lbs

Does this just change the size of the pill?

Everything I have read says to use the 51-100lbs pill.I think it is due to the amount of med in the pill.I just did it on my 75 as a precaution and used the whole pill.In about 12 hrs my cleaner shrimp were dead-couldn't catch them and had some that had survived treatments before.

it changes the amount of active ingredient... but im pretty sure that most people go with the 50-100lb dog tablets

I know if you google the treatment there are plenty of how to informative articles out there. Melevsreef.com usually has through and in depth how to's

The whole pill? I thought I read somewhere the whole pill will do 400 gallons.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I used one half a tab 23 mg ( 51-100 lbs dog) on my 28 gallon. Worked like a charm, well except for the shrimp and crab deaths.

It will but I wanted a strong dose. Also the vet I got them from said that if you only use half or less there is no guarantee you will get a strong enough dose due to the fact the med is not evenly distributed through out the whole pill.A piece might have some or none.

I suppose if I crush up the whole pill and mix it up well it will be pretty even.

Also, say I do remove inverts during the treatment.. Won't I introduce the red bugs back into the tank when I replace the inverts back into the tank??

I just sent the email to the vet! :)

Yes, you want the 51-100 lbs pills. One pill is good for about 380-400 gallons. I use a third of a pill, and I have ~120gal of total volume.

Sure, there's a small risk you might have a rogue RB on an invert that you've taken out. However, RB can only live ~5 days without an acro host, so as long as you remove the inverts for that long, there's no real risk there.
