Im going to lean on the side of caution and set up a qt tank. 4 weeks ago i lost 5 fish in 24 hours. I thought it was my salinity which was way out of whack. After four weeks of no fish loss or signs of any disease 2 days ago I bought a couple clown fish. Yesterday evening my yellow tang died. Nitrite 0, nitrate 0, Ammonia is 0. I can test for other stuff but figure if those 3 were in good standing my fish *should be alive today and in good health. Its not the case

Im looking for a QT tank now so I can get my Randall Goby, Lawnmower Blenny, and 2 clowns in. I want to treat them with copper. What is a good copper med to use? Treat them for 2 weeks and Qt for a total of 8 weeks before I reintro them to my DT. Im sad and dont want to lose anymore fish. I laid in bed last night wondering If I should just leave the 4 in my DT and just go a year before I add anymore fish and just stick with Corals and allow any disease to just run its course. If my fish are sick its not fair to them so id like to treat them.

For now I guess I would just like some opinions on a good copper med. Im looking into a 20g qt that ill have to do daily water changes on (i think) and a heater. I have a circ pump and some dry rock i was going to make a few safe spots for hiding if my fish want to and then look into a hang on filter for carbon once my copper treatment is done.

    Am i missing anything?
Should I just keep them in my DT and feed them Garlic soaked pe mysis so they dont get anymore stressed? (insert head banging here)

Why would you treat fish that you are not even sure are sick? How do you know Copper will help? Stressing the fish right now is a mistake IMO.
How big is the system a 75? Stress is the key. Keep the stocking level low or have extremely peaceful fish.

Also copper itself can be bad for the fish. You have to be care full with it, and like vinny said dont treat if your not even sure they are sick or what they have.

Tank is now 10 months old. Over the course of 3 months I added the original live stock. Slowly added small corals into it. None of which I dipped, treated or QT. March 5th I got a staph infection in my knee so I could barely feed the fish much less do any maint on it. March 14th I lost my powder blue tang, royal gramma, Clown, neon goby, and mandarin. All in 24 hours. None showed signs of disease. Yesterday my yellow tang met the same fate after I added my 2 clowns.
I do drip acclimate for 30 minutes before adding any fish or Corals.

Something is definitely wrong in your system. I know that is completely unhelpful. Your corals are all good? Do you dose anything? Do you run biopellets? With no signs of disease and to just die, sounds like oxygen issue? Are you purchasing all of the fish from the same store? You said your salinity was off before, when did you fix that?

All my inverts are good. Molt quite often... Corals look great. They are small but are all growing well. Frogspawn, torch, bubble, mushroom,Zoas, and acans are fine. I ordered a refractometer right after the fish loss. My salinity was at 1.045. I have a aqua c ev 180 that injects air into the water. I assume that that's sufficient for air? I don't have micro bubbles in the DT but assume there is plenty in the water. Also my cheato grows real slow but does grow. I have a ton of pods through out the system and a little GHA but not much.

I have a lot of young stometella snails and I'm thinking baby turbo snails in my live rock. At night time there is a lot of super small shelled snails creeping on my rocks. Sponges are growing underneath most of my live rock too. I'm stumped

that is so weird! I can see why you are stumped! It's almost like your biological filtration is not adequate? What do you have in terms of live rock? Do you have some surface agitation going? You didn't mention if you were dosing anything....also, what about the fish, are they all coming from the same store?

Yes all from the same store. It's a nice place all their tanks are well kept and have been in business for over 20 years. I have bought corals from two other places but their recommended from wamas which is a local reef club. I run bulk reef gfo in my DIY reactor. It's about a cup of gfo in it. I have close to 80 lbs of live rock in the display. Two evo 1100 and two evo 1400 for circulation. Small fuge in my sump. No dosing. I change 10% of water weekly. I have a 5 stage filter with a spectra pure silica di resin. 001 going into the di 000 going out of it. Right now I'm bleaching all my mixing buckets and water jugs. Ill soak them in prime water when I'm done just to make sure something's not coming from them. I miss something?
