He has been out of qt about a week and a half,

Is it normal for this fish to constantly swim? Not stressed swim, but he is just constantly back and forth

Also at night he stays higher in the tank, I'm thinking maybe this is because I have higher flow up top basically 2 power heads facing up and he stays in the flow.

He is eating well but his behavior seems odd

it sounds normal to me Jdameli

is it always swimming close to the glass? as it might be a vague reflection issue
and your tang is semi convinced there is another of its own kind in there with him

but in general Tangs are active swimmers (hence the debates on tank sizes etc)
so providing its eating well and showing no signs of infection, I would be happy

allow the algae to build up on your front glass a bit longer this week, to see if that stops it, that will tell you if its a reflection issue

ohh ohh wait ... make that +2 !

Tangs are active swimmers but I think the most restless are in fact the powder blues.

yep he is pretty close to the glass, and only does it when the moolights are on, he swims all over the tank during the day but stays high at night.

He is eating great, but does have ich... after 2 months in qt he still managed to get it when he went to the big tank, and he is the only one in there and the only one who has ever been in there so I guess the move just stressed him

Never used a QT tank, don’t believe in it. I also don’t believe in anything that adds stress to a fish (such as a freshwater dip).

Add garlic to his food and keep an eye on the ich – it will run it’s course and you will be done with it. Make sure you have a grounding probe in the tank – stray voltage is a huge stress creator for tangs.

Got the grounding probe, and always soak in garlic and selcon regardless, I have never qt before this, but I figured I would start out with an ich free tank... didnt work I know.

Grounding probe is in also :)
