Okay, I need help! I'm so confused and upset, I don't even know what to do. I know this is long, but please read it all.

Close to a week ago I had three anthias arrive via FedEx. One of them had something on her tail, which I didn't notice until I put her into the tank. It was sort of a clear white, so I thought maybe it was just from being in the dirty bag water. I wasn't too worried and thought it would clear up being in clean water, eating, etc.

Well, now her tail is an absolute mess. It looks like it has cottage cheese on it. I was planning on QTing last night after I did a big water change on the DT. Then I noticed my female flame wrasse has fuzzy white on both of her side fins. So, then I was going to QT both of them to treat with stronger meds. But I couldn't catch either of them. I gave up after about an hour. Now this morning my red velvet wrasse has white on his body.

I don't know what to do!! This is spreading so fast. I want to use an antibiotic, but I can't put it in the DT, because it will kill off all the good bacteria and cause a massive cycle or something. I tried Pimafix and Melafix, but it sucked all the oxygen out of the water, and all the fish were lying around on the sand and the corals were closed. I've fixed that problem, but now the disease is spreading so fast.

I've been reading on the internet, and it says fungal infections in saltwater fish is really rare. But I don't know what else this could be! And also, I thought fungus wasn't that contagious? This is spreading fast.

Any help is SO appreciated! I'm just so upset and lost and need help!!

    Thank you - Kacy

Kc, google Lymphocystis and see if that looks like what your guys have. From the way you are describing it, it kind of sounds like it.....

Thank you. That sounds like what the anthias has, but not the wrasses. The wrasses is more fuzzy looking. But it does look like cauliflower on the anthias' tail. EWww.

I'm gonna try to get a pic.

It could be in different stages. Or else the Lymphocystis lowered the immunity of your other fish and allowed a secondary infection to set in. From what I can read about lympho, there is really no known cure and that it simply needs to run its course.

+1 lymphocystis, its probably the same thing on your wrasse just not as big a lesion so it doesn't look the same. otherwise you have two infections going around

The wrasses sound like they may have marine velvet, but it sounds like you entire tank is already affected, so no use in quarantining. I'll hope for the best.
