    There go my savings....

I was worried my toby would munch on them but so far he is being very well behaved *knock on wood*.

Do i need to feed the little one?

Is the large one a Giga? No but you can add phytoplankton is you have some.

They should be both maximas, least thats what they were sold to me as. But im not a clam expert by far. Is giga a good or bad thing?

No actually Gigas are just not commonly sold much anymore, you see them occasionally. They grow to be a much larger clam than a Maxima. The coloration, and appearance of the mantle look like a Gigas from the angle, it could be a Maxima.

They are increadable animals. Im amazed how they know when something is above them and they close. Is it a question of light perception?

Light vs dark. Similar to a feather duster, they sense that the light isn't there, which usually means a fish or something else (predatory) is above them.

It won't hurt to add some phytoplankton occasionally, they'll also filter feed on the nutrients in your water. The big one does have a gigas look to it.
