    1 - 2 miles is too close for my liking. When you get to clean water, you'll know. Even the "gin" clean water isn't something I'd feel safe putting in, the cobalt blue is the prime water.

    Tackle shops use water by their docks for display tanks but there's nothing fancy in the tanks either and if the fish dies, well they just catch more. I'm assuming you don't have bluefish and fluke in your tank.

    a LFS by me sells ocean water. I'm pretty sure it's collected off Ft Pierce.

    Being so far inland, I get mine from Petco. It's collected and shipped by Catalina Water Co., a major supplier for public aquariums. Again, when collecting your own, test pH and nutrient levels. As for waterborne parasites, I've never heard of anyone ever catching anything from NSW, and I know several people who use it, including one who has been collecting his own from the Jersey shore for the same aquarium that's been running since 1972.
