I am on the market for a Christmas tree and just dont know the difference between the two, neither do the people at HD or Lowes. So I thought I would ask those who know all, lol.

What is the difference between a Noble Fir tree and a Frasier Fir? Why is there a ~$40 price difference for the same size tree? I am looking at 9 feet..

All help will be rewarded with karma people!

    Thanks!

Well crap Bama, the tree is bigger than the Christmas Vacation tree!!!! Thats 40 bucks more easily!!

One year we got whats called a Blue Noble Fir....man, what a tree. The branches were tight & fat in staggered levels all the way up the tree. Not all mish-mash with pine needles everywhere. It had this slight bluish/green tinge to it. We put these 4" red ornaments on the bottom, 3" in the center, 2" red on top. We wrapped the whole tree with those super mini lights in plain white.......didn't want to throw it out!!
Make sure you put it in a tree stand that provides water and those packets you add (WalMart)to keep it nice and green.

You didn't say if you're looking for a 'live' tree or an artificial. This my help with a live tree decision Types of Fresh Christmas Trees: Popular choices include balsam fir, Douglas fir and Virginia pine | Suite101.com
If you're looking at artificial trees, just go with the one that you like the look of best. Prices on the artificials often swing on the number of branch tips, the number of lights, and the material that the tree is made from (polyethelyne, aka PE, is more realistic and more expensive).

I get nobles every year. So here is why they are more expensive: they are easier to hang ornaments on because the branches are stronger, the gaps between branches are bigger so ornaments fit easier, and noble firs are known for staying alive the longest. Plus, they smell good!

    Basically, they are better quality.

I do want to try another live one some day. But for now, why should be change perfection? :)
