No wc, softies only tank, dosing?

He guys, do we need to maintain any specific parameters like in sps lps tanks we maintain cal mg str alk. My plan is to dose just seachem reef plus ( it has iodine too). Do softies need str and mag? If yes howmuch?

 

You are talking a risk dosing without testing. Its very easy to overdose iodine. Water changes are your best bet to maintain good water conditions.

Well iv always had no3 issues on water changes... sine i use a home water filter which has ro, uf, uv... iv always had algae blooms every wc. When i dont do wc, my no3 stays below 10 and i never see any algae.. im from india, we dont get rodi units here... every1 uses normal water purifier unit like me... i know peiple with sps dominated tanks here without wc since years... they dose seachem fusion... the only wcs are when they sell corals or buy new fishes... thts it... so can u suggest for a soft coral supplements? What would u guys supplement in my case? Is reef plus enough? Also is tht any good additive tht balances the minimum levels of cal mag iodine and other traces? We only get seachem products here. Planning on just gsp, a few leathers, palys and zoas

Yes, salifert and api are always available... also redsea no3 test kit is sometimes available but its very expensive.

 

Well i know a few sites do ship, but we are charged 40% duty on total bill here... i tried getting rodi from singapore but minimum purchase should be 1000$ so once the di cartridge is used... i need to buy stuff worth 1000$... lol... so thts a killer... the di units available here are those big industrial ones, they cost a bomb and they are huge... this is the reason in india we dont change much water, max 10% monthly... sometimes..

 

Imagine, corals are still illegal here... but there are 1000s of reefers here with amazing tanks...

 

I see your reasoning for not changing water. A general rule is don't add anything you don't test for. You may not need to add much of any trace chemicals. I would think you'd only need to add a small amount assuming you start with good salt. In a closed system the chemicals really don't leave. They may be bound up with other molecules or assimilated in organisms, but they are still in the system.
