First there was FAMA but it included very little info on reefkeeping. I only kept that subscription for one year. Then came Coral, an English version of the German Koralle. This was and still remains a SUBSTANTIAL improvement over FAMA. Coral Magazine - History I will continue with this subscription I suspect for a long time.

Now we have another good magazine by Anthony Calfo which I expect to become the leading magazine after a year or so. He's put a lot of hard work into it. You might want to check it out. It's not cheap but Anthony's goal is to have a magazine that isn't 75% advertising yet is made of quality materials and content. More information is here. Hey Curt have you seen the Mag live yet. I'm very anxious to see what people think.

Nope. I don't have the first issue yet as it is now just shipping. However, I had discussions with some people quote "in-the-know" who've been quite impressed.

Basically, the goal is to have enough subscribers to continue to print this magazine on high quality paper vs cheap paper and to prevent a bunch of advertisements at the expense of quality articles. As a result, it's a little more expensive.

    Here's Anthony's words:

The one thing i hate about this hobby is the cost, $45.00 for four issues. I though Coral magazine was pricey, ouch!!!
