It sure did. There are always tons of pods in the overflow, once the male releases the fry, they re ready to eat all sorts of micro fauna. Typically breeders fed them selcon gut loaded baby brine shrimp. I had a whole batch of BBS hatched for the occasion.

The sea monkeys are happy about this though. There's quite a few swimming around in the 2 liter bottle, despite not really doing much for them.

are you going to isolate the male next time then?
I assume all the other fry became part of the food chain in the woody?

I'd love to isolate the male after he has the eggs in his mouth, but I doubt that will happen as the breeding pair are in my DT.

Had I not fallen asleep due to lack of sleep the night the dad let them out, then I could have caught some and put them in the fuge.

Yeah, my fish have expensive tastes unfortunately and ate all the rest of the cardinal fry.

Cool stuff hork, my Banggai pair breed once every 3-4 weeks or so, but I don't have a place for the fry so none survive unfortunately :(.

My male is holding right now actually:

Try and capture them when he releases them and put them in the refugium.

Way to go horkin. I'm in the process of looking for a female for my male pajama cardinal. Hopefully you catch all the fry next time they spawn. ;)
