20 gallon bow front 4.JPG 20 gallon bow front 1.JPG If this is in the wrong place I apologize..

This is my 20 gallon bow front ( soon to be vacated to make a nano reef tank)... I am currently cycling a 55 gallon tank to rehome it's inhabitants as they have out grown this tank...

The substrate is coarse gravel I originally set it up with a UGF ( I know old technology) which will not be part of the new tank or the nano system.. it also has a lil penguin HOB bio wheel filter ( I do not remember the GPH).. the media is stock media with charcoal.. I run 2 media, changing one monthly ( rinsing weekly) and rotating the newest to the "lead position... scraping the "old" one... the tank is planted with Horn wart ( some is planted but as most know it rots off when planted.. but I don't want allof it to float)... African swords and chain swords...the horn wart is trimmed bi monthly ...water changes consisting of 1 gallon r/o/d/I water to 4 gallons treated tap water are done weekly... I haven't scraped algae since Christmas.. the only other décor is a piece of Mopani root.
stock... My prize is my angel... I it is a descendant of an original breeding pair I had many years ago.. and now she has outgrown her tank... with her are a pair of green glow tetras ( nursed back to health after rescuing them from a neighbor) a pair of ruby barbs 5 rasboras and an albino corey cat ( also a rescue fish)

I love her "mood" changes as she changes color from bright silver to convict banded... but she is a P...I...G... pig....morning feeding is dry flake food...I have to feed in 2 locations because she steals the show.. otuher wise the shy schooling rasboras never come out of the "bushes"... afternoons I alternate between live newly hatched brine shrimp and freeze dried tubifex worms... I have to beak the cubes into 3 pieces, one she will suck in on her own.. the other 2 get stuck to the glass while she "chokes" down the wad of worms...

She and the tank reminds me of how beautiful fresh water can be.

.. I get the best of both worlds for the time being ,my reef tank is in the foyer.. I step through the door into the living room and the fresh tank is there... when it goes upstairs I loose the luxury... I have people ask me all the time if the plants are real.... 005.JPG 006.JPG
