If I understand what you are suggesting, then by having multiple smaller scrubbers, on alternating lighting schedules, you can always have one photosynthesizing. As opposed to one large one (that may have the same square inches in screan), which would need to be off for 6 hours a day.

    Is that what you mean?

The concept would make sense to me.

O sure now he finally comes around.lol I have the perfect system in mind for this can you still help me patent it??lol
I have that amount of growth in 4 days now.;)
I noticed you are using zipties.Has that made the screen harder to clean??
Use the leds!!!!Red and blue equal crazy growth as SM said cfl's do work but mine took a long time to get going and produced a lot of slime the first few weeks..Also because you are not going through acrylic or glass the light is much more intense AND FOR ME THAT MEANT BEING ABLE TO RAISE THE LIGHT AND GIVE ME TOTAL ACCESS AGAIN TO MY SUMP.AWESOME!!!!!.

I was thinking about this the other day and it makes perfect sense. Since a totally clean screen takes a longer time to populate 2 or more could be a huge benefit.Right now I am using tankwater(andI would probably continue that) and leaving a small patch of algae. With more then one I could schedule them for cleaning at different times. ;)

Well you could do alternating photoperiods, but actually I meant cleaning time; it more important to always have a batch leftover after cleaning.

    Ah yes let's patent :)

Zipties? No zipties that I know of. The floating one that you posted is gravel epoxied to the walls, with nylon strings epoxied to the gravel. The porous-ness of the nylon allows the growth to attach so well that I've actually pulled some strings out before the growth would let go (and attachment=filtering).

Yes the constant bubble-water immersion provides the most nutrients to the growth, and therefore allows more light to be used without burning. Do post yours too!

Okay, I gotcha now SM. I'm seriously looking at all variants to find one that works for my set-up. Lots of options out there, and I've got a few ideas. For now, I'm just trying to learn up, and I appreciate the knowledge man!

There are only 1, 2 or 4 leds, so making one of them blue would be too much blue. And it doubles the types of leds to carry, and increases making mistakes of using the wrong ones.

Besides it grows great with reds :)

At first I thought the bald spot in the center of my screen was from intensity I am now thinking it is from the blues in the center of the fixture.I think I should have gone all red.
