You have plenty of light. Put the clam on a level spot on or near the top of your rocks if it is a maxima or crocea.

It's a maxima, should he go on the rocks or can he go on the sand bed?

I would do rocks better grip more normal spot for it.

I promise you can get one in grocery store go to seafood section and asked for stuffed clam. Cook it and eat it or throw it away clean it put it in tank. Clam in it I bet it wont move and then you can move it.

Definitely on the rocks. They live their life on the rocks and they will want to attach themselves to rock for security.

Ok I have the perfect spot for him. Also I heard they like phosphates as nitrates in the water because they filter them out. Is that right??

I'd try this for sure, this allows it to attach in a safe place that you can then move to a better place and secure. my maxima jumped ship from the rocks twice, and so I just left him there, and he's been happy ever since. I've heard quite a few people lose their's to clam jumping. I think, Ingtar lost a few, and vinny, but not sure those were the 2 recent I heard.

clam shell all the way!! I've done it with both my clams. works super awesome. lets you move the clam without really "disturbing" it. like dskyers said, you can just get a clam shell from the store and put it in. i get mine from the beach. nanareefer uses a few as well...

I asked my grocery store and they don't carry them, it's a small town not a whole lot of oyster people I guess... I'm starting to freak out because it will be here tomoro..... Any suggestions? I have PVC pipe I can cut, rock but not a lot of flat pieces, I can buy something common but we don't have a lot of selection..

Bad thing about oysters is I went out with my wife a month ago and had a weird seafood thing with clams and oysters!!! I wish I would gave kept one lol

do you have an AC Moore or Michaels? Most craft stores sell shells in the wedding section, even walmart normally has them, that's where I went for shells for my hermits bc they were so small, I just boiled them twice before adding them to be safe.
