    Amazing! Congrats on the new clam...

    :) Good luck getting a Gigas, they are not allowed to be collected anymore as far as I am aware.

    They are farmed for food primarily. All mariculture operations are required to place a percentage of tridacna back into the wild. Gigas aren't normally very pretty and grow the largest/fastest so they are not as popular for the aquarium trade unless you are me or fishy.

    My lfs has a gigas right now. Its HUGE! A little over 30" end to end. I took pix when I was there. He said make offer. I will send from my phone and post it.

    Here is the gigas at my lfs. He says make offer. How bad you want it? That is about a 3" clown. Just so you get an idea on the size of this clam.

    Beautiful clam, congrats. You definitely need a calcium reactor with that many clams.
