You did it wrong. You are supposed to put the fish into a bucket of fresh water for a few minutes and then move them back to a QT tank.

Saltwater fish live in a comfortable temperature of 72 to 78 degree's. Ich is a cool water parasite, so jack the temperature up if your keeping ich pron fish and you will have a less chance of the fish getting ich....it works that way in freshwater if it is different in saltwater forgive me I am new to SW but higher temps in FW works great....

I use a combination of dropping salinity and increasing temperature (Slowly as to not harm the fish), garlic infused food, and cleaner shrimp/wrasse. It's preventative and tends to make Ich very short lived.
And yes fresh water and salt water Ich are different, and there's as memory serves several dozen bacteria with different parameters for survival.
I am not however a big fan of using chemicals in tanks. I havn't lost a fish yet but I would try dipping or dosing in a QT tank and leave the fish there for a week or more before moving it back. Some of those "natural" treatments contain copper and will kill your inverts.

see this is what im talking about... one sez to raise temp one sez to lower temp... i have been tryin the garlic thing and well.... the fish arnt eating it....DAY 4... i have decided to try a variation of many suggestions...so far the really only thing i havn't done is drop salinity to .019.....so heres my theroy......or should i say my next venture.... since my fish are less moving around since i slowly dropped the temp... wich is normal due to cold water makes em less active.... i slowly turned the heat up... my salinity level last nite was at .022.. so today i will b addin more "freshwater" of course its not straight from the tap but u get the idea....i thought maybe if i raised temp and lower salinity then something will give and lets hope its not the fish that give up.. FOR I AM not giving up on them....hopefully sunday i can get a qt tank and do the right way and treat my dt by this way of salinity drop... Main question is though with a salinity drop down to .017-.019 what will happen to my inverts,(crabs, snails, and anemone's)?

That is why you don't drop the salinity in the DT, you use a quarantine tank for treatments.....
    Saltwater Ich: cryptocaryon
    Marine Ich: oodinium
    Blackspot Ich (tang): paravortex

There are different ways of treating them all. As with anything, there isn't one "cure" for the parasites (not disease). Different methods may wrk for some and not others depending on severity, type, overall health of the tank/fish and your attention to your animals. There is no "one size fits all" answer here so I really hope you aren't looking for one. One thing you MAY want to do is read various sources of info, not just forums...Books, magazines, veterinary articles...all of these are at your disposal with google or whatever search engine you may prefer but to come into a forum and essentially point fingers isn't really going to solve your problem..... Just a thought

I just want to tell my story with ich. My PBT which i know is prone to get ich very easy, for the 1st 2-3 months i was battling ich with him 3 days ich next not then 10 days with and 10 days not. The fish was still eating and swimming around the tank like normal. I read about 80% of threads on here about ich and decided since the fish is swimming and eating ok that I would let it run it course and he is fine to this day. I may see a small dot only on his side fins once and awhile and I'm sure it was due to stress as i have 4 tangs and since the pbt is catching up in size the pbt will challege them by nipping at them and the a small speed chase around the tank will take place. The only thing that changed was the seaweed that I buy they changed and started to add garlic.

    IME.....

Remove all the fish into a QT with hyposalinity, toss ALL inverts in the trash(saltwater ich can host on inverts), raise the temp in the display tank to about 82 degees for 5 weeks, 6th week, drop temp back down to normal. Treat the fish in the QT with meds.

For the record.... Do you know what Hydrogen Peroxide is? The chemical make up of it is H2O2, 2 hydrogens & 2 Oxygens.... The chemical make up of water is H2O, 2 Hydrogens-1Oxygen. Hydrogen Peroxide is super oxygenated water. Its ofen used in baitshops for their fish holding systems for added oxygen and to help fight disease.

It use to be thought that ich could lay dormant because people would lose all of their fish, 6 months later add more fish and it would start all over again but they never removed their inverts. It use to be thought that since crabs/shrimp have an exoskeleton, they were protected from parasites such as ich but where their exoskeleton connects to each other is soft tissue where ich can attach too.
