Thank guys, did some water tests and fed him last night.. he's hanging in there.

Tests were pretty good except my calcium took a big drop since last test. And I did my first iodine test, it was really low. So I have to mix up a witch's brew for the I.V. this weekend.

free ammonia - a dash - between 0 - .02. 1st time in a long time, definitely related to whatever the crocea spewed out I think.

cal 225! Damn! The clam and hard corals must be sucking this up. Two weeks ago I was at around 380.

iodine < .01

be careful with the iodine...clams don't tolerate it well.

if you have fish and feed your tank, it's most likely getting all the iodine it needs.

that being said, i'm trying to find the article that talks about clams and iodine, but haven't yet...i'm not sure it gave a magic number tho.

one more thing: elemental iodine is much more toxic than iodide.

R.I.P. Clam. :'(

Well I awoke to find my clam dead today. Fug.
He seemed to be doing better, I was kinda surprised. But when I pulled him out I saw the damage I did to his foot and I am no longer suprised.

I don't think the kalk bomb from my I.V. yesterday helped much, that seemed to upset everybody. Boy, when it rains it pours. (I need a better doser!)

Did a 1/3 water change today and will be replacing carbon soon.

Thanks for all the well wishes though and I hope all this helps somebody else.

Bummer Matt, I know how you feel! great lesson fotr everyone. What did you determine caused the clam to weaken in the first place? Do you have Metal Halide lighting?

Crap Matt that's too bad. Well time to get back on that horse.
He I saw something cool. Some one created a circle out of Maine epoxy for a clam to site in. After he made it he waited a couple of months for coranine to cover the circle and then he added a clam. This is a great way to make a perfect ledge for a clam.
