After years of trusty service, it appears my Bubble Magus doser needs a cleaning. Pump 1 & Pump 2 are both set at 24 mL a day, yet Pump2 (calcium) is clearly outpacing Pump 1 (alkalinity). Manual tests also show pump 1 does not drip as fast as the other 2 pumps on the doser any more and alk has dropped in my aquarium.

First thought, inspect and possibly replace tubing. Check the 1-way check valve on the end of the line - perhaps it is clogging?

Second thought, dig up manual and take off pump cover and get in there.

Anyone have any experience with maintenance on a doser? I'd love to hear from others on this one before I get my hands dirty.

So I had this problem two weeks ago. I bought a calcium reactor rather than try to figure it out. In retrospect, I see how your solution probably makes more sense :)

I would imagine you can replace the tubing and clean the check valve in vinegar like everything else we have to clean.

ˆ+1 to above. I've always read the lines need to be periodically replaced and that check valve I'm sure could use a good cleaning. I suppose you could switch the lines and see if it's the lines or the pump.

Typically the tubing wears out and needs to be replaced. The check valve IMO should be replaced. Cheap item, but failure isn't cheap.
