    Hi,

I have just added a butterfly fish to my tank. My yellow tang and coral beauty have been giving it grief. The tang seems to have settled but the coral beauty is being a bully.

How long does it usually take for thus behaviour to settle?

He's been in there a couple of hours now.

    Thanks guys

what I had to do in order to get my kole tang (guess same can be done to other fish) to settle and leave everyone else alone was rearranged the rock work a bit. It pretty much resets their areas and for some reason its like nothing ever happened and everyone is happy. Hope this helped!

+1 to rearrange. You can tried to feed a little but it will probably be only a temp thing and they'll be right back at it.

Try to remove the coral beauty and rearrange the rock work. Then after a bit put him back in. If he continues to be a problem then chose what fish you want more and re home the other.

Thanks so much. I'm going to do a rearrange now then observe what happens. I don't want to try catch the coral beauty just yet as it may be impossible :)

Will let you know how it goes.

Do you have a QT/HT you can house the CB in for a bit? If you are rearranging the rock, that is a good time to catch him if you think you may have to go that route.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You can also try the old small mirror taped to the side of the tank trick.

All good advice above. The only thing I would add was a couple of hours is normal. I don't get concerned unless it has not tapered off at all after a full day. I usually turn the lights off for several hours when I add new fish too. In some cases I'll leave them off all day until the following morning.

This forum is a life saver.

They have had a night to relax and sleep it off so I now just need to see how they go today.

Out of interest what is the mirror trick?
