Nice! Thanks for the update. I ended up just getting a reactor, running phosphate sponge for 6 days, picking out what i could, and did 3 days no lights. I was winning the battle. The phosphate sponge worked great. Gha was turning white and i was picking what i could. Then i had to wait for my gfo that i ordered to come in.i figured since i was winning i could start my light cycle back and i bought 3 mexican turbos to finish the job. Got home and 2 of the 3 turbos were dead. After a week and finally getting in my gfo the gha was back in full effect. Getting green again and growing everywhere. Thinking it was because i started running the light 4 hours again. Now im running the gfo and have picked a small tupperware full of gha today to begin fighting again. Thinking of getting a critter next for some backup. Hows the spiny doing? Is it gentle with coral and just eating away?

What worked for my tank is I took the most algae covered rocks and put then in the refugium, pulled most off of the remaining rocks, and got a bunch of snails and orange tip reef hermits.:)

Spectrapure has a phosphate media that IMO better than gfo. And was buy one get one free last i saw. Most people on local forum here that have used it. Haw seen algae start to die of in less than a week. I haven't read this hole thread but finding the source for the issue is going to be easiest way to stop it. Otherwise it will be a never ending battle.

Have you done some water changes with good RO/DI water, like every few days to help?

I have done 1 since starting to get it in check. I was doing 10% a week but it seemed that it wasnt helping and just fueling the gha so i stopped for a little while and did one last week.

I just went through a GHA outbreak in my 125 tank caused by a RO/DI issue. I fixed the RO/DI problem I had. In the meantime I got 4 striped trochus snails. It is amazing how fast they cleaned up the GHA. My tank looked similar to yours and two weeks later it was clean.

I get my ro/di from the lfs. There are 2 i go to but lately i have been staying with the one that everyone uses. The other is a smaller place and alot of people have problems with it but tell me the ro is better. That one is closer to my house but the other is always running specials on corals and livestock so thats the one i have been going to mostly. Im either hoping to get a unit for christmas or im gonna get one after the holidays.
