why? I kinda like them since I can't have real coral at the moment. Is there a reason? other than aesthetics lol
Ill remove them right away if theyre affecting the tank in some way.

This is how it looks like today after some weeks of work... Maybe 70% of the algae is gone. I've been turning the lights off a bit more often too. Just enough to give the only coral there some light.
I've also trimmed my chaeto and spread it around in the refugium. Perhaps that will help.
Based on this pic, (being a 150G standard tank).. Do you guys think i need more rock?

    Looks much better.
If it were my tank, I would remove the fake (plastic I assume) plants. Add a bit more rock (use dry to assure no hitch hikers come with live). Your fish are probably stocked on the heavier side. Do you run a skimmer? Since you dont have alot of coral I would cut back on the lighting as you are. Continue doing small frequent water changes.

I will remove them eventually. I was thinking on maybe adding 30lbs more of rock? or how much more do you think would be ok?

I do run a skimmer. My tank is on the heavy side? I was contemplating adding maybe 2 tangs in there. (To replace the ones that died a while ago). Not anytime soon ofcourse because I need to set up QT tanks and have them running well before I add anything. I was also planning on removing the Puffer so that I could add snails and shrimp.

A little unrelated, but do we QT snails and shrimp as they can be carriers or how can I safely introduce these things into the tank (after Puffer is gone etc..)

For what it's worth, I also think your fish load is too heavy. Don't add anything to the tank until you resolve the problem, maybe remove a few would help. I try to follow "Vinney's Law" :)
