I have acquired a 20 rimless tank for use as a frag tank. I will have a kessil light over it and run it bare bottom without any sand or rock. I am wanting to have zero livestock in there other than frags (SPS, LPS, and Softies) There will be no filtration other than water changes and a bit of fresh water top off.

Is there anything wrong with this? I know in theory it should work but in thought it just seems to simple and could cause major issues later on. I cont plum the tank into my main tank due to space restraints and a sump and skimmer are out of the budget.

I dont know if its very wise to go completely bio-loadless.... to my understanding corals actively feed on fish waste

I don't have a frag tank, but I've been looking into setting one up. I've been kicking around the idea of using a biomedia plate (extremely porous ceramic slabs) instead of rock as it looks cleaner IMO and takes up way less room than rock. I would also keep a single fish, so that if I feed the corals, the fish would be there to grab anything that floats away. Not to mention I love damsels and this gives me a pretty good way of keeping one without it messing with tankmates...

These are just ideas I've had, so take them with a grain of salt lol...
