    She very well could be picking at the pods in the algae, good point...

    I have never heard about them eating algae - but that doesn't mean they don't...

    Great write up!! I love this fish also. I had a spawning pair, but the female passed :( My male is still going strong though and is huge now!

    Here's my pair when I bought them....about 4 months ago

    That was you who bought them... Lol I saw em when they posted. And it's very possible mine just likes the algae or is picking out pods...but either way she's fat and happy

    These are actually mandarins...so in theory they should be about the same

    They take to prepared food easier than other mandarins. But they still need a steady supply of pods.

    Nice pics you have up. The scooters are cool to watch they just move at there own pace and hop around and they have the best personalities to. I would say also there picking pods and critters out of the sand when they sift it through there gills.
