Im doing copper treatment in my hospital tank. I bought Cupramine from Sachem and Sachem test kit. The treatment level of copper should be 0.5. There is a reference solution with the kit that when you test it it should be 0.5 too. That way you know the measurements are right. I did that reference solution and it shows 0.6. It is a big difference. 0.6 is dangerous for fishes i think. Anyone has that problem in past? Should I keep copper level at 0.5 or should i go with the reference solution and keep it at 0.6 witch may be 0.5 in reality?:-/ Thanks.

And I want to mention that reference solution color it is treatment color you should keep your copper level at. My problem is it shows 0.6 not 0.5...But if its still ok I will keep that 0.6 level to make sure it does his job...

You should try to match the color to the reference solution as closely as possible. When I treated my fish, I had to have my wife double check the color for me every day. It seems woman in general are better able to differentiate shades of the same color.

Just make sure you are doing the sampling 100% correct (for both the reference solution and the testing).

I know with that seachem copper test you have to test the Reference sample differently than you test your tank water. I don't know if maybe you have been doing them the same? Its like an extra drop of reagent and some other minor differences (its in the instructions) just an idea, just in case you weren't aware, because I almost tested my reference sample the same as the tank sample and the results would of been inaccurate. :)

Thanks. I bought Salifert test and will compare both tests. Just to be sure. Other thing, I know the recommended level is 0.5 and that's what my goal is but I also read on internet that efective level starts from 0.3. So there is a decent window. Is that right? Thank you.

Try to get it at 0.5 and keep it there for two weeks.

Okm I'll do my best. It's a lot of work though. Everyday I'm changing like 8p% of water volume because Amonia level raises to 0.25. Then you have to match everything... But I'm not giving up.....
