First time with sun corals...

    Im planning on buying a small frag of sun coral, i have cyclopeeze and bottled planktonic coral food which has rotifers too.. can i soak the cyclop flakes in coral food and feed it to sun corals? is twice a week feeding is ok? i cant get frozen mysis coz the shipping from singapore is too expensive since the have to do another kind of packaging and shipping is also the fastest so really expensive (5 time the cost)...... please help....

    I feed my Suns everything! Can you get any type of frozen meaty marine foods? 1x a week is plenty. I actually only target feed mine 1x bi-weekly. Prob should do more :)
    You wanna watch the excess nutrients in your tank. Especially feeding at night where no fishes will be up to pick up the extra.

    but if i feed at night, it will remain shut in the morning..... can i feed cyclop, formula 2 and plankton? once a week?

    i have freez dried normal shrimps that i feed my turtle once a week..... can i feed that?

    You would need to feed each individual head. You can also train them to open at the same time every day. You just out them in a tupperware container at the same time every day. Then, mix some food with some water and swish it around the coral in the container. You should be able to get them to open up in 5-15 minutes. You can then feed them. You might have to do this for a month or two, but they will eventually learn to open up at that same time every day :)

    I've never been a fan of the bowl technique. It works, just too much work for me. I just turn the flow off and feed. If they are not open, put a small amount of food in the water 10-15 minutes before you turn the water off to get them to open. IME, they need to eat a few times a week to thrive. The healthier they are, the faster they open up and eat. They can eat a lot, so feed them well, but watch your water quality.
