    That is a very odd place to be popping new heads at. You could try to cut that piece in half between the two ends, but you run the risk of cutting into the chambers of heads on either end. I would put some glue on an area that doesn't have heads coming out and stick it down however you have to. It might be mounted at an odd angle for a bit, but if you feed them regularly, it will grow back out and look natural in no time.

    Do I have to peel back any of the green skin to glue it or just glue to that?

    You're probably best off glueing over a bit of the skin to give it some stability.

    I would cut the bottom of the stalk off and glue it to a rock. Then, glue the other piece to a frag plug and hope for the best. If it keeps getting knocked over it will stress and possibly die.
