I have a Neon Dottyback and I want to get another so they can mate. Does anyone have and experience breeding this fish?

I have a spawning pair and mine were relatively easy to pair. How big is your current one and how long have you had it? I would recommend getting a small, captive bred fish to pair with your current one. This would help ensure that your current fish becomes male if it isn't already. When you introduce them, make sure that there is a safe haven available for the smaller fish if the larger attacks or bullies. A breeder basket would be ideal so they could see one another but not interact physically for several days to a month, depending on their behavior.

    Good luck!

Sorry about the late reply. I don't know if they are captive breed or not. I have put two in the same tank and they are getting along fine. There was some fighting at first but now they are buddies. I have to figure out if one has become a female or not. Do you know how to tell if that has happened? Also I have a 30 gallon tank right now.
