    It's not a sand bed,it's called universal rocks normally used for aquarium backgrounds.
    I wanted barebottom but didn't want the plane glass look.

    Here is a shot that shows the bottom better.
    Anyone who sees it like the way it looks,plus I can crank the mp10 up with no sand storm.
    Sorry it's upside down::)

    So we got the Biocube 29 the other day and set it up, 30lbs live rock, 30lbs live sand and started cycling it, running lights 8/10 hours a day. Also have chaeto in place of the bio balls and the IM 6 led fuge light on 24/7. Yesterday was day 4 showed ph 8.0-8.2, ammonia and nitrite 0, nitrate ~30. Today all the same except nitrate 10-15 ..... could it already be cycled? Didn't really get any diatom or anything. Quite a few micro brittle stars and small purple starfish and small white starfish that were all hitchhikers.

    Did you add anything to start a cycle? best thing to use would be a piece of raw shrimp or you can try ghost feeding some flakes for a couple days.

    The micro brittle and asterina star fish are all good hitchhikers typically.

    Nice scape, follows the rule of thirds nicely. I find it very hard to scape in my biocube 14.

    Do the fish have names yet? lol
    I'd wait a couple days and add your first fish then, what are your stocking plans?

    Yes lol, planning on a bubble tip anemone (green) with a gold stripe maroon clown named memo of course (since my son calls nemo memo and he wants a memo lol), a gold head sleeper goby named quicksilver and a cleaner shrimp (no name yet) along with a couple emerald crabs and some snails maybe a serpent star and corals I'll start with orange, green and maybe purple montipora capricornis and some mushrooms and I'll be set. Not planning on adding any fish right away I'm thinking cuc and inverts and the monti cap first, fish in a couple of weeks if tank is really already cycled. Depending on how the led lighting does I might get another clam too we'll see when the time comes.

    that sounds like a very nice list and method of adding that you have. I love memo! :) I miss when my kids were little :( I still remember when my youngest used to ask me if I had the poucons to go to the grocery
