Thanks for the response. what do you want your Cal, Mag and Alk to be at? and how much dosing would i really need to do with one clam in a 29 gal and weekly 20% water changes? again thanks for the help.

Test your Params daily to see how much is getting used only way to get a specific answer.

You'll have to test frequently to see how much calcium and others are being depleted then you should be able to get a guideline of what your tanks needs will be. I like to keep my calcium between 450-480, magnesium at 1380-1420 and alkalinity at 10-12. That's just my personal preference my tank seems at its best with those params. Once you get your first clam it will be the first thing you see whenever you look at the tank. I love mine.

So I went yesterday and got a Blue Maxima Clam, im really excited about this clam as being my first. Its a 2.5 inch clam and the store owner gave me a flat rock to keep him on. I have him on the flat rock on the sand bed because I have read about baby clams falling off of rock and damaging its self. Will I be able too keep him on this small piece of flat rock in the sand or would you recommend moving him up in the main rocks?

Keep him on the sand bed and place the rock underneath.
