So I know that SLR cameras are good for taking pictures but what do you guys use for taking videos of your tanks? or do you just use a digital slr camera that can take pictures and videos?

If seems like smart phones are what most peeps use, altho DSLRs work a bit better, usually, and neither are as good as a dedicated video camera for the most part.

For "live" tank cams, you can use a computer camera, stand-alone, or the one mounted to your monitor.

High frame rates look best (smoother) if you have a choice.

A lot of people I know use "GoPro" for their video cameras. Something about being able to stick the camera in the water really makes me smile a bit.

I"m gonna have to get a GoPro, for my Catamaran Sailing/racing.
Then I can use it in my DT too!

Mine are all from my Iphone4. NOt that good of a quality.
There is an app than can pause and zoom the video cam also- I don't have it though.

They are only like 200 bucks....That's pretty good for a cam that will take stills and record in 1080

The san disc HD hand held video cameras are easy to use, light and cheap now. I have a JVC model. The transfer to computer is really fast too.

I've been seriously looking at the GoPro myself... I just can't find many actual tank videos using them to preview. In looking at the general action videos taken with the GoPro there is a bit of a FishEye effect that I'm not thrilled with. This may be different with close up macros shots through but I'd like to see samples. Anyone seen any?
