Just bought an Aqueon reef ready 210. I am upgrading from a 150 that I have running for the last 10+years.

Maybe stupid questions but I am looking for opinions on painting the back or leaving it clear. Also any input as to how far from the wall to leave it.

Also open to any other suggestions. I am currently working on the wall its going against. The sump and all equipment will be in a closet on the opposite side of the wall. I am doing some electrical work and running a water line and drain into the closet now.

I've had them both ways I prefer to paint the back glass to hide equipment wires

I vote black. I used a basic oil enamel by rustoleum with a small foam roller. A couple coats and your good, it's very durable.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Thank you for the help guys. And I dont have the tank yet. Was supposed to be in yesterday but stand is back ordered. Should pick it up next weekend. Worked out though, I will be running the electric tomorrow and figuring the plumbing.

I painted the back of my 240g sky blue, looks awesome in pics. Used Krylon Fusion
I'd leave a foot between tank and wall. I left more considering I have a HOB Skimmer.

I have a black removable acrylic background. They are large panels with lap strips on the top and bottom that allow me to remove it to clean the back glass and maintenance the tank from the rear as its built in my wall.
