Those lasers are extremely dangerous and can blind with a stray refracted beam in a fraction of a second. To safely use one you need to blackout the room in which you are using said laser, and use specifically tuned glasses geared towards the wavelength of the laser an remove your fish.

I bet your LFS owner also fishes with dynamite, drives while taking Ambian, and plays gold during lightning storms.

Ok I did a bit of my own research and a blue dental curing light emits light at a wavelength of around 450 to 490 nm, Which is about the same as the blue survival lasers.(they are very similar technologies) As long as you do not look at the light you are ok. I can testify that I have had braces for over a year and my orthodontist slipped and burnt my gums and it is extremely uncomfortable. About darkening a room I have no clue because the dental lights are embedded in a cylinder so I guess it needs to be dark. To avoid danger you can buy these.

since I have neither a laser or the expertise to wield one;) I have come up with an alternative. Do you guys think I would be able to ditch the rock but save the mushroom and jasmine polyps? I have another rock which is clean. As stated before, the rock was an island unto itself. I just removed it from my tank and have it into a quarantine bucket. Originally the plan was to try out the aiptasia-x in said bucket, but how long would the mushrooms survive with no light? I have an airstone and heater in there, but it would take multiple applications if it were to work.

The mushrooms look easy enough to remove (thanks youtube!), but I wasn't able to find anything on the jasmine. Is it the same basic idea? As always, thanks for the help.

You could always just get berghia nudibranch's from Saltyunderground. They are obligate aiptasia eaters and would eat around any of your corals. The problem is they are obligate aiptasia eaters. If you only have one small aiptasia in your tank the nudi will starve in short order, which is maybe not the best route. As for removing the polyps, i'd say it's possible but somebody that has actually fragged polyps should probably chime in with the details.

Peppermint Shrimp have worked for me. I still have to kill. The random larger aips that slip past them, but they seem to keep the tiny sprouts in check.
