    Like wise. I am sure I speak for many when I say that I am thankful for your son's sacrifice. I have thought of him and you and your wife quite a few times this weekend. You all have my support. :)

    Spoke to wrassman this evening and he informed me that Al will be in Bethesda, Maryland for his recovery/additional surgery.  Al needs all of us to pray fervently for his full recovery.

    My thoughts and prayers are with Steve and his family, and I will be eternally greatful to Al and all servicemen/women who went to battle before and will go to battle after him.

    The Grand Old Flag is the most beautiful thing on earth.  The red is for the blood, the blue is for the bruise, the white is for the eyes that have fought for me and you, so lets lift our hearts today, full of gratitude and praise, for the veterans of the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks again to the Hasting household!

    Thanks, Craig. And thanks again for the phone-call last night. It certainly helped lift my spirits to talk to you. [smiley=thumbs_up1.gif]

    We are getting ready to leave for Bethesda in about 20 minutes. I'm finally going to see Al. I'm very excited about it, and looking forward to seeing my hero, for sure. But to be perfectly honest, I just hope I have the strength to "hold it together" while I'm with him -- for his sake.

    Goodbye all. I'll see you in a couple of days.

    The visit was great, jakets. Al is doing a lot better than I would be if I had just lost an eye. His strength and courage astonish me, at times. :eek:

    If everything goes according to the plan, he should be dismissed from the hospital on Monday, April 7. He will then go home to Chattanooga to recover at his mom's house.

    I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for caring. :)

    Let Al read this thread so that he knows how much we appreciate his sacrifice. Let him know that whatever you survive it will make you stronger. In every adversity lies a seed of equal or greater benefit.

    Peace and May God Bless the US of A, every single one of us!

    [glow=Navy, 2, 80%]Thanks for asking Craig,

    Al is still recovering at home, in Chattanooga, TN, with his mom and sister. Being 20 has some advantages, physically speaking. He seems to be somewhat of a "superman." ;D

    Al is starting to go out with friends, hang out with his favorite cousin (my sister's daughter, Katy), and get "his life" back together. He is not discharged from the Marine Corps at this point, they want to keep him his full tour (4yrs). He still has to go back to Bethesda, MD, too, and be fitted with a prosthetic.

    But, all in all, Al is doing as well as any of us could hope. One thing for sure, he is one tough Dude, and he will be my Hero for as long as I draw breath.
