Hey kinda worried just bought a decent sized colony of purple zoas from the lfs all the polyps were open at the store and it looked great but on the way home I saw this like slug looking thing that had spikes all the way across its back. Saw it again a minute ago. looked up zoa eating nudi and they look similar exept the one on my colony is brown. Bag floating in my tank right now. What doesn't make sense though is the zoas looked fine at the store and so did the other zoas in the tank except for a couple colonys that were all closed up. Im thinking about doing a freshwater dip but im not exactly sure how to do that though and would that even kill the nudis? Also about half of the polyps on my other zoa colony are closed up does that mean I already have zoa eating nudis? please help

You'll probably need to iodine or fresh water dip all of your Zoa colonies every 3 or 4 days until you don't see them anymore. FW dips kill the nudis but not their eggs, hence the need to re-dip. An Iodine dip may be more effective at eliminating the eggs and nudis all at once. They move around a lot from what I understand so you may have them on all of your zoa colonies at this point.

edit: sorry didn't realize it wasn't in your tank yet. FW/iodine dip it and keep it in QT until they're gone.

FW dip is pretty much exactly like it sounds. Use RO/DI water the same temp as your tank, and raise the ph with some baking soda up to what you're tank is at for PH. I wouldn't dip longer than 3 minutes. Swish it around a bit. You should see nudis fall off.

Lugols dip Iodine is supposed to be a good iodine dip from what I understand.
