My dart goby killed himself this morning. I got him on 02/09/2003 so he was almost a year old. The other day I notice he was stressed out lieing on the bottom. I placed him in a refegium below the tank. A day later he seemed fine so moved him back to the main tank. Everything seemed fine. He came out when i started feeding... but the tank needed more food so I put some more in. All of a sudden the dart Goby was in the corner digging wildy. The dart goby stopped and fell half in and half out of the whole he had just dug. He dug his own grave. I don't get it. I removed him promptly to place him in the refugium again but he was dead with his mouth wide open. Anyone have a goby commit suicide. It was weird. [smiley=bigcry.gif] [smiley=confused1.gif]

Sorry to hear that Trickman. I can't say I've ever had a gobie. I would love to but my Blenny doesn't like them in his tank.
I would love to hear more so I'll be watching this thread

Sorry to hear about your loss.

This could have many different things but with out knowing your tank mates or water conditions etc... it is hard to tell you exactly what happened.

90 with two soft corals left. A refugium with mangroves and some algae. Brillo and red. No additives. Water changes daily.

I use coral Life sea salt. Salt is mixed up at about 35 gallons a month. I have a 35 gallon trash can. Their are two ways to do this. One is to plumb a drain from your overflow or the other is to use a float switch and a pump. I have used both ways. Personally I like a direct plumbed line from the drain. but sometimes this is not possibly so a float switch works wonders.

Right now I am using a float switch. works good. Gotta use a digital timer for water changes becuase you most likely only need to pump water for a minute. I will get some pics of my setup if you like.
