When you can LITERALLY pull out GHA by the handful. Guess I need to put in some GFO lol. At least my SPS look great.

You know that just begs for pictures.

Also kind of throws a kink into the notion that all sps require pristine water quality. Is the algae consuming the nutrients and or phosphates so quickly that is it acting as a modified turf scrubber ? Inquiring mind want to know.

The GHA most definitely take up any nutrients before they can effect the SPS. The downside is that the GHA will disrupt flow and shade the corals causing a bit of STN. Nothing they wont recover from I presume. The worst part of my psudo neglect is that over half of my frags had grown onto each other's plugs or onto my frag rack. My blue/green cyphastrea has about an inch along my acrylic frag rack in every direction and most my acros have too. Pictures are a pain for me because I have no way to link my camera to my PC and need to have my wife do it! Just look at my early GHA images and understand its worse ;-)
All I need to do I add GFO to my empty reactors and it should take care of itself.
