As long as he is eating, active, and does not seem to be worse...I would just let it be and see what happens..

Make sure he is getting a balanced diet. Should be getting seaweed/macro algae, as well as some flake/Frozen food (I use emerald entree).

Thanks APC. Actually he only seems to like seawead. He devours it with a passion. I've tried garlic coated pellets that he doesn't go near and I feed my clowns flakes that he also doesn't like. I spoke to my lfs, where I bought him, and they said he should be OK with just the seaweed. he is very active, contnuosly swimming, roaming the entire tank and feeding also on the algae on the lr. If it is ich, will be slow down and become lethargic?

The white flecks were gone from the tangs fins this morning, but he did seem to spend more time behind the rocks than usual. It was shortly (about 1/2 hour) after the lights came on so this might be normal. Also, one of the clowns was swimming the length of the tank rapidly then from the top to the bottom and back. Neither were interested in the flakes I fed them. Could this, too, have been because teh lights had recently come on. I guess I will have to wait until I get home from work later today to see more.

Thanks AV8Bluewater, interesting reading and very informative. It helps understanding what I'm up against. My lfs has suggestive using a new product called Ich Attack by Kordon. It's an organic, herbal product designed for treatment of existing cases and as a preventative. There's a fair amount of information in this link: Kordon LLC - Kordon - Herbal Ich Attack. Has anyone had any experience with it
