A few weeks ago I noticed my hammer starting with wither away. I tried moving it and then was away for a week. This is what it looks like now. I dont usually test water and all of my other hammers and frogspawn are doing great. Any ideas? Maybe try dipping it?

I don't notice any brown slime but a dip in iodine won't hurt. I would check the big 3. A large swing in alkalinity will cause issues as well. I'd keep it in low flow and look at it after the lights go out for a few hours.

Following...... I'm interested to hear the outcome. Mine withered away when I came home to my first nem shredded from a powerhead. :( I hope your outcome is far better than mine.

I would definitely test mag, alk, ca

I lost a head of frogspawn due to alk drop

Yep, check your parameters. I've had them do this to me before and don't throw it out right away. Mine shriveled down to practically nothing only to come back a few weeks later with a ton of new heads.

Thanks for the help guys. I am going to try a dip tonight. I didnt figure any changes in water quality because the rest of my euphyllia are doing great. I have probably 70 or 80 heads of frogspwan and they all look great. Ill keep you informed.

Even though your other euphyllia aren't showing signs I'd still check your params. There's always a coral that will show stress before the others. My gold hammer is far more sensitive than my frogspawn.

Is this good for a dip? I have seen articles online where people use iodine from CVS.

I wouldn't use that. Go to your LFS and buy a iodine dip made for corals. It might be the same as other iodine brands but I don't like risking things. Did you check to see where alk, mag, and cacium are at? Also need to know where your tank baselines at with the big 3.

I bought once 3 euphyllias at same time, from same tank at shop. Brought home and adapt them in the same way to my tank. Frogspawn and headed hammer are growing crazy even today - this wall type hammer vanished after a week.
Tried second time, from other shop a wall hammer and yet another frogspawn, same result - wall hammer vanished.
I have sps in tank and twice / week check all parameters and no issues there. Still cannot keep this wall type coral in my tank. Mysteries of reefing :)
