There is still some confusion about ecoBAK and it's relation to other bio-polymer products so I just wanted to clarify a bit.

A few years ago we watched the European company introduce it's pellet product and thought what a fantastic idea it was. At that time (unlike today) no one had any idea which polymer or co-polymer was used in the pellets.

So I started my research fresh, untainted by trying to copy an existing product. I ended up with a polymer that as it turns out was NOT the same polymer used by the original and the subsequent packagers of polymer pellets. I liked my polymer so much I wrote and applied for a patent.

So here we are a few years later and we've all seen the user reviews of the other brands of polymer pellets which are "so-so" at best and the reviews of ecoBAK which are still 95%+ positive. This isn't a coincidence, there's a physical difference between the products.

ecoBAK not only reduces Nitrates and Phosphates but also reduces other dissolved organics, clarifies water and produces bacterioplankton for coral food.

ecoBAK allows users to feed their systems without fear of elevated nutrients and allows users to keep more fish in their systems...

ecoBAK works and I'd like to thank the 1000's of users that have trusted ecoBAK and made it the best reviewed, top selling polymer pellet on the market.

I'm actually looking forward to going the ecobak route here in a couple months. I've read nothing but great results.

    Your Welcome! LOL

EcoBak is the main reason that my first ever reef tank has done so well. I decided to try it after reading the official thread here on 3reef and asked Jon a few questions. My tank went through the initial cycle and I added them immediately.

2 years later here I am.

That pretty much sums it up. Mind sharing your regular/basic maintenance practices?

I am trying ecoBak again (2nd time), as my last tank crashed due to doser malfunction. I was running ecoBak for about 6 months then, and it just wasn't getting it done. I came from Vodka dosing, and I found it to be more effective. After reading MANY threads from ecoBak users, I believe I pulled the pellets prematurely.

I am currently running 500mL in a NextReef MR-1 reactor, with a Mag 7 pump, valved. I am not liking the tumble this reactor provides, and will be switching to a Cad Lights Conic reactor shortly. I am still Vodka dosing, but have cut my regiment by 75%. I'm hoping after I introduce the new reactor, I can quit dosing completely, as the new tumble will make the pellets fully effective.

I would like to thank Jon for being so helpful throughout both of my pellet endeavors. I will update my build thread with results periodically...and let my photos speak for the effectiveness of ecoBak!

    Thanks Jon!

    FoD,

I wouldnt suggest using the CAD lights reactor. The swirling motion that it puts out is not the type of tumble you really want. I would suggest the Reef Octopus reactors or even the Avast Marine reactors with the bio pellet mod nozzle.
