    For future reference, always always always fresh water dip your clams before adding them to your tank. Just make sure that the ph and temperature of the fresh water is the same as that of the tank water.

    Is this bc of those snails? How long should you dip them? Just in and out or leave them in for like 2 minutes?

    Because of the snails and any other worms or undesirable critters that might hitch a ride in with the clam. I always dip for about 15 minutes. You'll be amazed at what is left behind in the dip water when you pull the clam out.

    I've always gone with 15 mins, but I know some folks go out to half hour or even longer.

    Also, sweet clam!

    EDIT: Heh, in the time it took me to get sidetracked the conversation commenced :)
