Hey guys im about to start copper treating all fish that come into my house in a 55 gallon I bought just for copper.

I am seeing a few things about copper not being good for snowflake eels. I want to ensure that he isn't carrying any ich monsters when I go move him in the display tank.

If my display tanks go 72 days without fish and move this eel over only to corrupt my progress I'm gonna be pee-ost.

    Ideas?

    Transfer method? Hypo?

    Mucho thanks.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You are best off without the eel then, hypo and copper run a very high risk of killing the poor creature. Basically if it is scaless fish should not be treated with copper.

While I appreciate your efforts to prevent the spread of disease, successfully keeping Marine Ich out of the systems long term is very difficult. Be it frag, snail or hermit, if it is moist it has the potential to carry the parasite.

Since Cryptocaryon irritans is an opportunistic parasite only really able to do significant damage to a fish already compromised by stress you best line of defense is to avoid stress and feed quality foods.

Should you QT if you can absolutely, but I would not treat the eel with hypo or copper or formalin.

    :p

While I was waiting for a response I had already considered taking the eel to the lfs. I have been living with ich for over a year now and doing well; using the compatible tank mates and great water quality method.

I'm gonna try this QT thing and test my patience.

As for inverts: Another smaller tank will be setup and be the 72 days tank. Maybe throw a few corals and a cleaner shrimp so its slightly appealing.

It isn't a fun sounding routine. Who knows maybe it will be worth it.
