I think I've posted this before, but I can't seem to find the thread, and I'm finally in a place to purchase one of my own...

So, suggestions on what to, and what not to buy?

http://spectrapure.com/RO-RODI/RODI-SYSTEMS This is where you want to look. .5 micron sediment and carbon block and if you can, the 99% 90 gpd membrane. You can always switch the DI resin when you have to replace it if there is one that is better suited for your needs but the membrane will last you a decade if you treat it right.

    Ok. Thanks.

    One more question-
I found 2 max cap versions.
the only difference seems to be that one has a manual flush valve, and one doesn't.
    what exactly is this?
And should I pay $50 more for it?

$50 sounds like an auto flush valve. A manual should be 5 to 8 bucks. You want one or the other.

I know it flushes the membrane and extends the life of the membrane. It looks like they sell them separately for 39.99 and i am guessing 10 dollars worth of hassle for adding it on. I don't have a flush valve at this time but i do plan on adding one. And i did check on it, it does say manual and not auto.

Ok. Also, I'm watching YouTube videos on setting these up, and they all seem to tap into the water lines...

That's not really something I wanna do. I don't own my house, I rent.

I seem to remember seeing a video somewhere that showed it being hooked up to the faucet in a bathroom sink. Can I do that with these spectrapure systems?

Don't waste money on a flush kit, they have no documented proven value other than to lighten your wallet. Keep your waste ratio at the recommended rate for your water conditions and you will never need to do any additional flushing.
You can buy a faucet adapter which will fit on most kitchen, laundry or bathroom faucets. If you have a washing machine you can also hook into the cold water supply using a $8 garden hose wye connection or if you don't have a washer I suggest a feed water adapter which can be found third from the bottom here:
    http://spectrapure.com/PARTS-SUPPLIES/FEED-DRAIN-ADAPTERS

It installs in the cold water feed for a kitchen or bathroom faucet and is easily removed with no permanent damage or evidence it was ever there. The reason I don't care for faucet adapters is they tie the faucet up for hours on end making RO/DI water and you can easily ruin a membrane if the faucet handle gets switched over to hot since membranes do not like hot or warm water over 113 degrees. With the feed water adapter or washing machine hook up you connect only to the cold water supply.

AZ, I know you are the man when it comes to RODI. What are your thoughts on what russ from buckeye posted on my local forum about flushing. This seems to make sense to me and would like to get your opinion..

"When you flush a membrane right before/as you turn the system off, you affect the water that the membrane will be soaking in until the next time the system kicks on. If the system runs and just shuts off (no flush), the water in the RO membrane housing is waste water - water that is about 20% harder than your feedwater, and more likely to deposit scale. If you flush at the end of a use period, the water the membrane will marinate in is feedwater - about 20% less concentrated than waste water.

If it's not clear, he was saying is best to flush at the end of use and not before or during like you hear from other sites
