PMD presents as a ruffling at the edges of the mantle, as it progresses the ruffling is more noticeable, followed by diminished extension of the mantle.

GFO=Granular Ferric Oxide, used to remove phosphates there by reducing algae. No scientifically documented relation to GFO and PM. It's thought that clams already infected may succumb to the disease at an increased rate.

Match FW to displays water pH and temp for FW bath. Burp clam when returned to display by turning the clam upside down to dislodge trapped air bubbles.

worried my new clam has it. Has a fruffle but seems to be getting better. Suggest a FW bath? Also my Derasa is very bright color This maxima is dull. Is that a sign as well? And for sake is being clear. Use RO water for FW?

Read read read, is the best advice I can give you regarding clams. Disturb them as little as possible, so I would not proceed with treatment until you are convinced that PMD is present, it's too difficult to tell in the images.

For a FW yes use RO.

That is simply the coloration of your Maxima, it is called a Gold Maxima. Coloration variations are also greatly influenced by the angle you're viewing the clam from. Top down views are usually the best.

It's better to start your own thread then to revive older threads. That is kind of the purpose of forums. The only issue I personally have with creating threads is the creation of multiple threads by the same member asking the same question and hoping for a different answer.

I've read where some guys run a lot of carbon to get rid of PM.

I've read the same thing. It's seems to be one person promoting it. One person that knows a lot about clams. It certainly can't hurt but I am at a loss to see how carbon which is going to remove DOC and an insignificant amount of trace elements will treat a protozoan (per Barry Neigut) if that is the organism responsible. If it is protozoan then why not use UV. How does charcoal affect a protozoan is the question I have regarding this treatment.
Guess I'll dig around and see if I can find any correlation. :)
