Well back to back nights saw my pH bottom out at 7.80 and 7.81, which is better. Day time saw the pH top out at 8.37 and 8.27.

Right now the hose is slightly pinched and temporary. I'll make it permanent and unpunched at some point.

Chasing pH is like a dog chasing its tail, he/she will never catch it.

Correct, but I'm not chasing pH. I'm trying to raise it the low end from a very dangerous level; a level that can dissolve coral skeleton.

I battle the same issue on my tank in my apartment during the summer. I ran the skimmer line outside and even that wasn't enough. Ended up also plumbing the vent on top of my overflow to outside air as well. Then I connected some extra float switches to the rim of the tank just in case the overflow plugs I have a way to prevent a flood.
